Which would you rather have

Been chattin to a bloke at work about it and he reckons the E46 but im not sure

There both around the same price, what would be best

Depends what model and what you're going to do with it. I would say E46 without a doubt but a cheesy one with aftermarket stick on bits will look rubbish compared to a standard E36 either M3 or a good replica.

only soft top e36 id get is the m3 evo or m3
