found some f20 gearbox oil seals on ebay. are these something that goes often or need replacing?

No they dont go very oftern, if ya recon ya box you will need them but this is usully entrusted to a specialist that would do the seals any way. I have never had problems with gearbox oil seals

so if i was to get say an f20 gearbox i would not need to replace them?

If ya get it and there is gearbox oil leaking from it then yes change them, i have never had to bother changing the seals on any gearbox i have had/owned etc

how much am i looking at for a f20 box i good working order? also is it worth changing all the gaskets on the gearbox too?

For a good F20 i would pay no more than £120 if the box looks good and dry dont bother but i can tell ya want piece of mind so change all the gaskets and seals cos its obviously easier to do out the car. Get a haynes and take ya time. All it will cost ya is ya tiime and a few sheckles for the gakets.

well i can get the gaskets set for 5 quid and my bro is a mechanic so he gona be doing all the work engine and gearbox, just really want everything running almost as new. Also got a proper workshop manual on the way

Might as well then eh geezer, once the engine/gearbox is in its in so like ya said if ya can get cheap labour off ya bro might as well stick a minter in there
