Whats the difference in getting all of my speakers, sub, amp etc. the same brand or having different brands.????

Does it make a difference to the performance????

exactly.

Getting a Rockford fosgate subwoofer, then using a sony/mutant/splx amp would be a waste of money on the sub.

Just make sure you stick with reputable brands, and that you get the power figures as close as possible.

What about a rockford fostgate sub and then a kenwood amp, both doing 400w rms??????

could be alright, but im not sure about kenny stuff tbh - never really listened to stuff by them, but i would personally opt for something like a rocky amp to go with the sub

Also remember that you should get an amp RMS rated slightly higher than the sub - ie: sub is 400wRMS, get an amp that will do 450-550wRMS etc

You have more of a chance blowing the sub by underpowering than overpowering.

If you get an amp with higher power than the sub, you will get a cleaner signal overall but just take it easy with the gains on the amp.

my comps get 2.5 times the rated power and with sensible gains they love it.

and should i get a 4ohm or 2ohm impediance sub????? wats the difference??
