ok i was guna sell my car but im toying with the idea in keeping it and going for a swap of the engine. the only reason i wanted to sell my car was because its a 1.2 slow mo beal car and i wanted to get something a little faster (was thinking of a 1.4 sport)

how hard is it to convert from a 1.2 to a 1.6 16v? my mate is a mechanic so he will be able to help me out as he knows what hes doing (i hope)
what things do i need to get other than
engine
drive shaft
ecu
wiring loom
upgraded breaks??

im only 18 and have been on my dads insurance this year so i wont have any no claims but if i did this conversion would someone like flux insure me on my dads insurance with a 1.6? and how much roughley would it be?

and the last thing is how much apx would it cost me for all the things i need? engine, ecu.. blah blah blah

thanks alot!

er yeah think 1.28v to a 2.0 turbo is a bit of a big jump, dont think you would get insured on one unless you paid stupid money to be honest mate even if ya dads got full no claims, and thats if they would even insure it.

not thought of going for a 1.6 gsi would be a lot better than the 1.2 ur used to, and the insurance woulnt be to bad when i was 17 and on my dads insurance and id just past CIS were going to insure me on a gsi for about 700 fully comp i think it was and he had full no claims so might get a decent deal on that.

you'd have a job insuring a standard 2.0 let alone a turbo, just get yourself a GSi

if your going to go to the hassle of doing an engine swap then you want at the very minimum a 1.6 16v..... which at your age should be quite insurable....

another way of looking at it is that corsa gsi's are in plentyful supply over there so it may be worth just buy one of these to save you the hassle of having to convert you 1.2.... plus you get more gadjets like leccy windows, abs, power steering.... etc.....

the main reason i converted is that there are very few corsa gsi's over here.... also i done the work myself so i didnt ahve to pay people to do the conversion so it worked out extremely cheap...

the conversion is a piece of piss to do if you do decide to go ahead with it...

thing is i dont want to have to start all over again just to have a biger engine.

ive had an alarm fited with CL. had all my interior re trimed. got some alloys for it to go on. m3's. momo steerin wheel.. just seems like a waste to get rid n start fresh

Siberia what stuff do i need to do the conversion mate? is there any welding that has to be done?
