under heavy breaking my brakes make a funny 'woo -ing' noise and then i can smell a burning scent??
anyone know what it could be??? 
oh it's a corsa b, 1.6 16v sport btw

your discs could be pretty worn, and the noise you can hear is the heat escaping through the vents in between the discs. when they are cold, run your finger round the edge to see how much of a lip there is, if its very prominent, you may want to think about getting some new discs. while you are at it, get some Astra GTE calipers and 256x24 discs on there

cheers cybermonkey it's got a bit of a lip round the edges but i'm gonne upgrade anyway. thinking of the v6 brakes

How can it mean fuck all...? if you had discs the size of a 20p coin then there not gonna be as good as a 300mm disc are they!
I know what u mean about the calipers thout...
But i think bigger is better!!

i think you misunderstood adam there. He was saying that the Corsa 1.6 calipers are tiny compared to ATE ones for example, hence the total difference in braking power, regardless of the fact that both discs are 256mm. GTE discs are 24mm thick though, as opposed to 20mm for Sport 1.6 ones.
