My car is running fine now after the conversion but has an air leak somewhere. You can hear a ticking sound but this is only under acceleration, been told it sounds like an exhaust leak but it seems to be coming fom right hand side of the engine bay.
Anyone got any ideas what it could be?
PS Engine is X14XE

Probably an exhaust leak, the joint has snapped and when the engine moves under acceleration it seperates and causes the ticking noise. I bet.

Been told it could be the manifold, could that be right?

If you want to check yourself, with the engine on feel around the exhaust front to back for any air leaks.

I know this is a VERY old thread but...
Im having the exact same issues with my 1.4 Sport (97).
The car is making a loud ticking noise and it also judders at low rev range. I have replaced CTS, sparks, fuel filter, oil, oil filter but it still does it.
Could the leak described above be cause the car to judder low in the rev range?
Please help someone, its been like this for 3 months now and its doing my head in lol.

Forgot to mention, im not even sure what the ticking sound is but i can say its exactly the same as described above.

i have this ticking noise on mine sounds like its coming from block or exhaust not too sure

sorry to bump this again, but i have tried new leads and checked the resistance of the injectors today both ok but still the problem persists......

Im still having this problem, going to take it to the garage today i think.
I have fixed the juddering by blanking the EGR valve and the car runs alot smoother now, just ticks very loudly under acceleration.
I have been told its without a doubt an exhaust leak somewhere i just dont know where. Its coming from below the injectors kind of to the right a little. Anyone think they know what it is?

Could be inlet gasket.
