its true! a 1.4 sport is a lot cheaper to insure than the sxi.

the girlfreind used to have a 1.2 sxi 1999. just bought her a 1999 1.4 sport.

tried getting quotes for the new sport and it turns out its cheaper to insure than the sxi

on the sxi it was £850 for the year. paid the premium up-front six months ago and still have 6 months remaining. expected to pay more for the remaining six months with changing to a quicker car, but they are actually going to send us £100 back

when i asked why, they said it was because the sxi's are crashed more often than the sports because they are usually driven by younger less expierienced drivers.

right then,

she had the sxi for 6 months. her premium was £850. she had 6 months remaining when seh sold it.

the premium for the new car was £650. but she had 6 months worth of insurance left so she decided to use that rather than waste it.

the difference of £200 was divided by 2 as 6 months of the policy had been used on the more expensive sxi, therefore meaning that a refund of £100 was given as there was only 6 months remaining, not 12

understand

its madness my dad used to pay 350 tpft to insure an old battered Cavalier. It now costs him and my mum 260 FC to insure a Focus ST170 and would of only been £150 for the RS And thats with me on it too
