basically it only comes thru the sub and amp.... if i take the RCA's out it stops so the other 4 speakers are uneffected... does this mean its not the headunit but the sub and amp
1. i've re-grounded my headunit direct to the - on battery
2. i've rewired the power, RCA and remote both on different sides of the car and when they cross at 90 degrees and also cross any other vaux. electrics at 90 degrees.
3. i've re-grounded my amp direct to the metal panel and sounded it down to bare metal
now i'm lost.....
my components and 6x9s dont pick this whine up its only sub and amp when plugged in...

I've got exactly the same problem mate, and I've given up on it! Just gonna get 6x9's instead.
Try this, get something like a portable mp3 player, then a phono to RCA adapter/cable - the try plugging the mp3 player direct into the amp/sub instead of the hu. When I tried this, although it obviously sounded shit because the sub was receiving all the channels from the mp3 player, there was no interference at all - which makes me think it's to do with the hu, BUT it runs my components fine with none at all?

borrow a mates HU mate and try that, sounds like its your HU thats up the duff! if you still get it, then its just a case of trying a different amp, if that fails then try and different sub.
or try your gear in another car etc

What on earth you mean? That just sounds like a dodgy amplifier. Exhausts dont have electrical freqencies, your engine does
