The haynes manual (the max poo one) recommends a 7mm allan key, my 7mm allan key doesnt fit it, fits my 7mm socket but not the caliper bolt.
and the 8mm one is too big, what has anyone else used to remove these?

get right round the back, take em off as one piece using a 10mm allen jobby

Undo the 10mm bolts that hold the caliper carrier to the hub carrier....

ok il have a look at trying that then...did use have diffs with the 7mm allan key?

the main ones that hold the caliper to the hub carier are 10mm the smaller ones are 7...

just remove the 10mm ones and take the caliper off as 1 piece... much quicker that way... if yer taking the disks off the little philips screw can be a turd to get out.... ive needed to drill mine out twice

lol...
im attempting all this fri afternoon...
any hints on changing brake lines...

Ive bought the goodrich kit, but..wherea re the brake lines? are they the hoses that u can see feeding into the caliper and are they ahrd swapped...obviously i no i have to bleed the system (dont i?)

i'm not meaning to put you down here but if your unsure of what your doing when it comes to brakes... maybe you should leave this to a mechanic? they are after all they are the only thing thats gonna stop you

brake lines= garage... i wouldn't even bother trying to bleed a full brake system

surely it cant be that hard with the help of a haynes manual and a lot of time?
itll be working in the dark but im up for a challenge...
I wold take it to a mechnical but the car is off the road, could leave it till spraying etc all done then take it to gf's dad, qualified vaux mechanic, or ask him for advice!

to answer your question... the brake lines are the rubber hoses that are going to the calipers

i am quite confident i can bleed the system...havng seen it done etc...but will changing the lines be complicated?

no 10 minute job.... make sure you have a helper when your ready to bleed the brakes...

get a gunsons bleeding kit. makes the job 100 times easier and actually bleeds the brakes properly. costs £15 from auto parts shops or halfords. one of the best tools i have ever bought. will bleed a whole system in 15 mins easy.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH in my experience it was only good for pissing brake fluid all over the place... fooking thing!
