basically on the laptop everytime i open IE6 it will load, then promt me to download the page i.e "OPEN SAVE CANCEL" box. if i open it informs me that it was unable to connect to the site. if i save it'll save to the desktop, ill click on the icon there and it'll do the same as before. also it does this with messenger but that eventually signs in.
now im running XP on it, all updates installed.
used the following to pin-point and malware/virus/trojan etc:
Ad-Aware SE Pro
Spy Hunter
Adware Away
Spybot search and destroy
AVG 7.0

deleted all the temp internet files/history/cookies
de-fragged and scanned disc.

shut down the main desktop and the laptop, and cut the power on the internet connections to re-set them both. restarted and problem continues.

any ideas anyone?

sorry for essay,
graham
