IF you happened to be trying to be insured with a parent as the main driver and you named they would have to be the registered keeper yes.

no, want to get insured on my girlfriends car and she get insured on mine rather than swapping owner ship of cars then getting insured. So i'll be the only one with a policy on her car and she will be on a policy on my car.

some insurance companies wont insure you if you are not the registered keeper
