You have one of two problems...

1. Your USB port is goosed
2. The drivers arnt installed properly.

Whilst on the topic...I have one...and have found that the phone song transfer software isnt reliable...

I just drag the files I want to put onto the phone and drop them in the window of the USB device...using windows...transfers a lot quicker than the CD software and is more reliable...
