i think its difficult to get the mixture right, i alway replace it once a year, so i take the bottom piepe of the rad and drain it, then run the engine-turn it of and do the same to see if you can get any more out.
i then do the mixture to wht is says on the label, and measrue it in a large clear plastic bottle and then fill it up.

the mixture for the summer is obviously diff to the winter , so i do it half way between for the whole year round.
for instance if it was one fourth antifreeze for summer and 3/4 antifreeze for winter i do 2/4 for the whole year round.

im sure my antifreeze said something like 1/4 antifreeze 3/4 water, so i got a big clear bottle maesured the height of it and marked it into four equal sections then fill with antifreeze to first section the fill the other three sections with water.
may have to alter the measurements depengin on what your antifreeze says though

just guess, will make no difference at all  thought you had the coolant liquid from halfords anyway? don't need to mix that.

empty the cooling systemk and then add 2.5 to 3ltr of antifreeze, top up the rest with water. winter is more important obviously due to the risk of freezing but antifreeze is also a corrosion inhibitor to stop the water ways rusting up
