Seriously if you are going to sleep in your car (sometimes its unavoidable) please immobolise your car under the bonnet so even if you tried it wouldn't start.

just read this, my mate is trained in law and if he leaves car at pub he will only get things out of it from passenger side

think you'll find your wrong - if you are in possession of the keys at the time of arrest then you are assumed to have reasonable intent and in any case - your still in charge of a vehicle whilst under the influence!


seen quite a few times on police shows (real police shows etc) letting them off if they are sleeping in the car drunk..I would go with Vibrio on this one..

Yes - you are in charge of the vehicle.

Harsh for sure, but that is the law if someone chooses to follow it.

Mav - its my job though, I see this stuff day in day out. Of course the officer can use his common sense and let you off. On the other hand they can be a git and follow the letter of the law...
