Ok in a highly powered, track or road corsa is a PAS a good or bad thing to have?

adam_b - my exact thoughts.

only thing ill say is i would be fighting with the wheel under acceleration with the atb in mine, the pas makes it a bit easier.

id still rather not have it though

if my car was purely for track, i'd get rid, with a quickrack, the sttering feel is so much better than with spongy PAS

but i couldnt be arsed with parking without it

for performance have it without because the pump puts an extra strain on the engine and saps some of the power

powersteering is good for parking and thats about it. The steering on corsas is so light anyway it dont bother me.

Am I imagining things or does it take more turns in the steering wheel though? Surely driving at speeds PAS will make steering easier because of this.

it would make the steering lighter, but, you are less in control of the car, fit a quickracka nd you have the same turns lock to lock anyway

quick racks are better and cheaper. also as mentioned above if its belt driven pas, it takes power off the engine higher up the rev range as it has to drive another belt.

But theres a difference between power steering and power assisted steering, I think i'm right in saying on sports they have power steering, on GSi's they have PAS, which gives more feel of the road but still light for manoeuvering
