hi,
sorry if this has been asked... did a search and didn't find anything obvious.
I have some 17" OZ alloys from my calibra... will they fit my corsa?
am I limited to a certain tyre size?

They'll mount but you're likely to have big tyres and a low offset. Ideally want offset of over 45 and tyre size of 205/40/17 or similar.

the tyres I think were only 40 profile.
how do I find out the offset?

normally its stamped somewere on the alloy..
it will say ETxx (xx's indicate number)

yep doesn't look good, little bit too stuck out?
What if I get 5mm milled of the back of where it bolts on?
That would take it to ET42, right?
The wheels I have looks like they will fit:
Agila, Astra Mk 3, Calibra, Cavalier, Vectra
ET 42 to 49 seems to be what I need.
ET45 from what I have read is what Vauxhall have the car on.

Another thought...
my car has not been lowered so is it still a problem?
Would getting 5mm milled off the back be a problem?
I don't want to pay £60 to get them fixed and another £70 for a tyre just find I deffinatly can not use them.
If I could find a way to use them that would be great as I don't need to spend as much money.

Take it when you say 40 profile, there 205 wide, not 215?
Personally, i had milled down wheels on my old car, and i never trusted them. By the time youve got em fixed, bought a new tyre, and had them all milled down, you looking at a bill of over £150. Would It not be best to just Ebay the wheels and buy new ones, depending what there worth?

ET42 off a Corsa C
would they be OK?
my mates an engineer, he says he will mill the Calibra wheels down 8mm to make them ET45 for free.
^^ good idea / bad idea?

ET42 should be fine, I had ET40 on my old Corsa B with no problems.
Do not machine 8mm off the back of the wheels unless your contemplating suicide

Cos 8mm is a lot of metal to take off, it will seriously weaken the wheel. Imagine the scene, 70mph on the motorway, and a wheel comes off the hub due to metal fatigue.

Theres a fair chunk of metal.
I have thought of the obvious but the manufacturers might have the same spec wheel and manufacture it thicker or thiner depending on the offset.
Whe you think about it like that milling it down might just be making the same as it might have come out of the factory at a differant offset.
I need to se 2 of the same spec wheel at differant offset to be sure but it is a possibility.
Agree'd though, so will still prob end up selling them to a
corsa c/vectra/calibra/astra owner etc
