the top box is brand new and has never had anything inside it although it has been sat in the garage and has had stuff on top of it so expect there to be very very light scratches. £400 for this as it is in perfect condition.

the roll cab is second hand off a mate at work, there is nothing wrong with it apart from the handle is missing on the side because it had side cabs. there are no dents etc.. but expect there to be scratches as it has been in a workshop under daily use for a few years. £450 for this.

or you can buy the pair together for £800.

yeah. a mate brought a brand new 1 with a funky design on it, got loadsa trays ect, cost him £1600. and he's still managed to fill all the trays!

na the finance aint much on them plus life time gurantee and the fact if they leave there job they still have all the tools because they paid for them and they can then set up there own business in mechanics if they want as a soletrader

No he doesn't.

He charges a bloody fortune for everything you buy from him.

You have an 'R.A.' or running account.

For tools and small items you can pay a bit each week or month when you get paid and he sets a price ceiling and payable ammount - there is no interest on this.

On larger items such as boxes, roll cabs, compressors etc. he sets up a credit agreement and you pay a set ammount over a set period including the interest on the finance.

Snap On dealers are notoriously stingy - I spent nearly three grand on a new roll cab and some bits and bobs in 2003.

I paid up front in full and my discount was not large.

In fact, he had to bung in a free 12v Snap-On mini fridge and a decent torch to make the deal a little sweeter.

I spent four years getting a decent tool kit together from the start of my apprenticeship, and some piece of crap pikey stole about 1200 quids worth from me - uninsured

You don't see people in highly paid jobs having to pay for anything but their lunch and their clothes.

Hardly seems fair.

I think the garages should supply toolkits for each tech, or pay a suitable salary.

What a post.

I have a fantastic working relationship with my snap on dealer. Will often pop round to his to collect something in an evening and end up there til 11, 12, 1 o clock having a drink.
Have had some great deals with him but also spend a shit load with him.

Yes they may seem stingy but to be fair they have to pay for everything, the only thing snap on give them free is price lists. Everything else keyrings, cups, pens etc etc are paid for by the dealer.

I've spent £14k plus on tools in the last three years and the bulk of my tools and my boxes were bought before then. Yes you spend ridiculous amounts and i agree with you the salaries available dont reflect that. However if you have £10ks worth you really should have it insured. Snap on is very desireable and very sellable!!
