My mate says that my Corsa B 1.2 8 valve has no limiter on it, meaning that I could rev it until it didn't want to rev anymore
I thought 99.999% of cars have a limiter, even before this fancy engine management stuff?

Yes it has a limiter. Rev it flat out in neutral, you will hear it*
*not adviseable to do, especially on a cold engine

most engines have a 6000rpm limiter.
others such as x14xe/x16xe/c16xe and possibly the 8v sri engine (but not sure on that one) have a 6500rpm limit. (not sure about the 1.2 16v though)

yes it has a limiter, and although you may find the sound funny, you wont be laughing as hard when its raining pistons.

but the rev limiter is there to prevent major damage to the engine.

how accurate are the rev counts on corsas anyway??
mines had engine transplant to a x14xe and i was booting the tits off the the other week, booted in to 6k in first and in second gear i planned on it hitting the limiter at 6500, but my rev counter went round to about 6800 and still didnt hit the limiter?
as far as i know its had nothing done to it!

if you keep hitting the limiter, it is causing damage to the engine, please go and do this on yours right away.
