half the time when i indicate, turning the wheel, then when i go to straighten the wheel up again the indictor doesn't click off. Would i just need a new stalk? or is it more complex than that.
its only the left stalk, the right is fine

Just get a new stalk. I'll tell you a trick. Go into a scrappy holding your stalk, then swap your broken stalk for a working one off of a car in there... It's a L33 LEG thing to do, but I admit, I did it once 
If your honest, then it will cost you about a fiver so it's not worth risking pissing the scrappy off really
