Im having problems getting my 1997 1.7d corsa going. When i turn the key the starter turns over but the car doesnt start up. Ive changed the glow plugs but that didnt do anything. It starts if I bump start it and continues to start until its left for a while which is why I thought the glow plugs were gone. Any ideas what could be wrong?

give it some more starts with a little pause as you may fry the starter

tried that but still doesnt want to start.
if i start it in gear the car jumps forward so someone suggested hitting the starter with a hammer. is this a good idea?

if you start it in gear it obvious that will bump foward starter is ok ! you have fuel in tank ? can y get 19mm spanner open the pipe going into the injector and see if it is comming fuel and at the same time good to bleed the fuel line
