RIght after putting my engine in all of two months ago now and doing about 2000 odd miles hassle free, however i still have the eml light on... engine seems to run fine but seems to become a bit sluggish when the light pops on which only comes on when i boot it... the paperclip test says its the egr, ive bought a brand new egr valve and its still coming on so it cant be that, i also used the original wiring loom so that cant be the problem either, the only thing thats differnt is the ECU im using.. the one that came with the engine didnt come with the chip or transponder ring so i couldnt use it so i purchased an ecu, transponder and chip off OJC from an x16xe he had spare...
Pics of the two ECU's below... engine is out of a late Gsi ECU on the left is the ECU that came with the engine,. the one on the right is the ECU im currently using ...
P.S Diog isnt wired up so cant have it dioged..

why dont you ask the person you got the engine off for the transponder ring and chip? no harm in plugging it in tho. id say it will cause problems as they have different part numbers...

the ecu's above are as follows:
Corsa 1.6 litre 16 Valve
96 on 2 Delco Multec S
BRDS
16213739
XED6BRDS
Corsa 1.6 litre 16 Valve
97 on 2 Delco Multec F MPi
CKYF
16214249
XED6CKYF
there were changes in the wiring looms and pins on the 97> ecu's but nothing to do with the egr system, mainly the knock control system. i ran a late x16xe (red and white plugs) on an early x16xe loom (red and cream plugs) an no probs with egr, just had to move the position of the red/greem knock sensor wire.
i would try a different ecu just incase thats faulty, or have you checked the wiring for the egr properly?

i also have this problem went to try and get it sorted today an it was the knock sensor as my 96 sport had two wires going to it but the 95 model only has one so all they told me to do is change my wire loom under the inlet an get a new knock sensor so it will the pick the signal up. if thats any help at all,

What wires did you change and do you have a guide or something?
I'm trying to find an early GSi ecu (red and cream) and it's proving difficult, so if I could swap a wire and use the later red and White ecu that would be great.
