In a 1.6 conversion is it essential that you keep the immobiliser ?

The one I am looking at doesnt have an ecu so I am wondering if I can get an ecu that does not require a chip or transponder etc ?

What problems does the lack of ecu pose ?

Cheers

all ecotec (x16xe's) engines came with an immobiliser built into the ecu. As long as you get an ecu that matches the loom and the chip from the key and transponder from round the ignition barrael the you will be ok.
