Can someone take a screen shot of the alternator and its mounting brackets on a 20XE as something came loose last night and bounced off under the car, then the belt went loose.
i have just been down to see the damage and it seems like a bolt and grommet has come loose and the alternator is wabbling all over the place. it still has the long bolt through the bottom, but no bolt holding it on the offside.

the bracket bolts to the block with two bolts, the unit fits to the bracket with the long one you mention and a nut.
at the top it sits in the adjuster slot thats bolted to the head which pivots on a grommet/washer type affair.
mine also has an earth bolted to the top adjuster slot.
no pics, but i hope that helps a little.
although you probably know all of that already

as far as i remember mate it's just a washer and nut on the other side.
could be a grommet type thing to centralise it like whats on the cambelt cover, but i don't remember that.
i'll go out and take a look at mine tomorrow if i remember

yeah thats what i think it needs, as there is a hole about 20mm wide and the threaded end of the long mounting bolt is just sticking out of it.
if anyone else has a second to go and take a picture if they can would really appreciate it.
