I have had had my car since November and i am very happy with it except....sometimes when i go over 4k revs the revs stay there and i can't go faster its like restricting me. And while this is happening the orange management light comes on. This happens only now and again mostly on motorways and dual carriageways. Last month i had a diagnostic test and it said the Lambda sensor was the cause of my problem but i replaced it and the problem was still there. can any of you relate to my problem ??? i will be take the "paper clip test soon" but i can see it just saying LS again. i have a 1.2 16 engine and sorry for the essay
regards Craig

Get it tested by Vauxhall. Only an idiot would go replacing sensors on one of those engines without having an ECU diagnostic done. Could go to a Bosch center garage too as they have the equipment to read the ECU's properly too.

If it goes to 4k and then no more .. Its the knock sensor ...

well i had this problem when i swapped my engine over from 1.2 8v to a GSi ..
My engine did exact same 4k, which is about 20mph in each and every gear ?? So, i did that paper clip test and it came up with alot of fakes but the main one was the Knock Sensor - I think it determines premature detination So if its that, u wanna swap asap

Before you go buying anything I would check into it further.
If the engine is cutting its self off at 4K, it's because it is in limp home mode.
Any fault that the ECU registers engine wise apart from an EGR will cause this.
Chances are it may be the knock sensor, but it may not.

When my light come on, i went into Vaux and they wanted about £80 to do a diagnostic test! Robbin basturds!
I ended up asking around a few garages and managed to get it done for £20 cash.
Ask about and see if any local garages have the equipment.

For fucks sake!!! Don't go guessing this sort of thing. GET IT BLOODY TESTED!
I mean properly, by Vauxhall on thier Tech II machine. You will be wasting your time and money otherwise. There are millions of post lik this where people randomly list every sensor in the fuel system and the person blindly bus new sensors and fits them. Guess what, the problem was never sorted first time....... Anyway, no one ever listens to me when I say this, so just go ahead, waste your time and money.

I had exactly the same problem. Had tech2 plugged in, came back with o2 sensor fault. Replaced that, didn't solve the problem! Ended up it was the Air Flow Meter and it didn't come up on the diagnostic. Even after I had the o2 sensor replaced the diagnostic still showed the o2 sensor to be at fault
So yes get it tested but dont take it as the gospel...

I had same probs, it turned out to be the engine wiring plug, like a big circular mulit plug had come undone. When i tested it come up with three different faults, so had to be wiring,
Try looking for a loose connection around the engine some where.
