Is there any difference in size of these airboxes, would I gain anything at all from swapping my standard 1.2 8v Swing one for a GSi box? I have fiddled with my box at the moment for the noise, so would a GSi one make even better noise if nothing else? Just a quick random thought!

I thought the air boxes had different internals for each engine size?

I don't know tbh - I cant find a GSi in a scrappy to compare it to mine, If anybodys got pics of the 2 so that I can compare or something, that would be cool. Its not hugely important, just a little experiment I thought about trying!

it depends which engine it came from. there were 3 styles of airboxes. C16XE airbox with AFM, old style 8v airbox with Vacuum sensor and X14/16XE, which was a pretty simple design compared to the others.

Changing the box wont actually do any damage to the engine though will it?

no. It will do nothing for noise, performance or anything really and it won't damage the engine.

In my eyes its not really worth the hassle in getting a GSI one really, because as long as you drill the airbox you have, you are increasing the air flow, so it should help.....
