having problems selecting gears even with foot fully down on clutch any ideas what it might be?

new clutch ony been in a year so might be the linkage any ideas on cost to get that sorted?

Get it rolling up into 3rd, accelerate gently then let it slow down without using brakes and apply gentle pressure on the gear lever as though you're changing to 4th but keep your foot off the clutch. When you've matched revs it should slip straight across - if that's the case, your clutch is buggered. If not, it could be your linkage instead.

Do it on a quiet road obviously.

Also if your clutch was worn, you'd be putting the revs on, but not gaining speed, and have a nice burning smell whilst driving.

sounds really stupid, i had the same thing other day, the floor mat was stuck under the clutch pedal so i couldnt push it fully in?

i thought i was pushing it fully in cos it wouldnt go any further, but once i pulled the mat outta the way it was all good.

or put it in 4th when stood still
and go and if u can feel it pulling ur clutch is ok

na it aint pulling in 4th but also tired changing 3rd to 4th and it went across wit out my foot on the clutch! also tried moving the mats out the way but that didnt work either so it going to a garage cos iam puzzeled now and it feels like it getting worse

9 times out of 10 it will be the gear selector linkage. its an easy 10 min job, might as well adjust the clutch cable while you are there. that could be the other cause. buy a haynes manual for £12 and theres a full instruction of how to do both.

a worn out clutch is more likely to slip than cause problems selecting gears.

yer i know it doing my head in driving round crunching all the gears :/ dont want to drive it in case i do any more damage but need car for work. might borrow gfs car lol cheers for help everyone.
