I want to upgrade the engine and try and get as much bhp out of it as possable thing is i dont want to spend loads on it and i also dont want to have just a cheap induction kit that makes the engine louder, could take my exhaust off i would look so cool then driving round with all my mates in the car with the music on only kiding i just want my 1.3 to have a bit of dignity.

Apparantly them little 1.3CDTI engines are quite pokey, what sort of hp your putting out? if they are quite high already are you likely to get any more performance out of it by remapping it?

Think you do mate!!
cuz petrols are easier to work with for mods
more performance enhancing mods available.
My mate spent a lot of money on his turbo diesel stilo and notices fcuk all difference.
What do you drive, petrol or diesel?

Vag diesel engines are a case in point.
I also happen to know that little 1.3 cdti is very responsive to a remap.
People who say get a petrol obviously don't know what they're talking about.

whatever mate, but we're all laughin at you for sayin that
take a look at most cars on here and you'll see nearly all of them are petrols. You never prooved your point by sayin its responsive to a remap, my granny's scootay would be responsive with a remap.

Ok mate.
I've learned the hard way on here not to argue with people who clearly don't have a clue.

And in response to the original question which has been forgotten about, forget the dump valve, get a powerbox or remap.
Make the car a much much better drive.

I'm not laughing at him for saying that. He has a point.
More and more diesels are being tuned, they have excellent torque for starters. If I'm not mistaken, the VX220 racer Vaux made was powered by the 1.3 CDTi was it not?
90% of cars on here are probably petrol, but it's not an issue of what's best to tune ffs. I'd rather have a go at upping the performance of a 1.5TD over a 1.2 8v or 1.0 12v.
And your granny's scooter? Since when did electric old people mobiles have an ECU.

well this post went a bit mad, its standard 1.3cdti i think it puts out 80bhp it might be worth checking it out, its not too bad really especially once the turbo kicks in. uve all given me some good ideas on what to do, im gona have to look in to it because i like the idea of having a car looking standard but abit sporty with out looking tacky or using body kits but having a nice power unit under the hood.

PMSL at the logic in this thread
obvioulsy Shaun2005 and Jazzer2k3 (inventive names guys ) havent ever driven a tuned diesel
i'm on the same side as Corsash, John, Sri-Co and Michael B here, diesel IS the way forward
if any of you had ever driven a decent turbo diesel (which the 1.3 CDTI is) you'd understand
Dont argue if you are gonna talk bollocks

i find the 1.3 cdti to be one hell of a car its obviously not the same as a 2.0 or something along those lines but i would like to take it to its full "potensiol " i never passed english, how about increasing the intercooler or turbo its self

Have a look on ebay for tunning box or power box.
I've not actually been able to find out much about them although haven't actually asked.
bubblevaux said ages ago that boost was controlled by ecu, never told us how to up it though or how high you can go safely.

irmscher sell a tuning box, which just plugs in and gives more power
intercooler might make a difference, but you'll need to be running more boost for it to be worthwhile
you'll be able to get it remapped, which will cost less than changing the turbo etc, have a look at
www.courtenaysport.co.uk and
www.regal-auto.co.uk
they sell tuning stuff for diesel engines, that should help you out
