Seriously, just get it checked by a mechanic if your worried, it will take them 2 secs to have a peek and they shouldn't charge you....

saying that though, it isnt safe as it is apart of the safety feature (which mine will get replaced with my spare once ive got the time in a few weeks) - but i dont think you would go flying, considering the belt would still lock!
