Am I an idiot for not getting this?

But the only time this would help IF it worked would be against static speed cameras and the like which will always been in marked zones.

You are quite clearly asking for trouble speeding through a marked zone with or without a some spray on your plate.

The other times you may get caught are by mobile units, in which case number plates dont even come into the equation?

yeah i agree, your much more likely to get caught by mobile devices that dont use flash photography.

there are those camera vans that work off the number plate, i got had by one of them, but as said about they dont use flash photography but use infrared flashes

dont the mobile cameras have to have a warning sign up alerting oncoming drivers? just like the permanent ones?
