how long does it take to declare a vehicle to the DVLA .... need to inform them about engine size. but i plan to get an MOT , TAX and Insurance in the same week ?

do i have to send the v5 away or can i phone up ?

help!

I'm pretty sure you should keep the smallest part of the V5 as if you'd just bought the car.

It'll enable you to partly prove ownership for road tax purposes. I could be wrong so don't quote me.

EDIT: To get tax you need to prove insurance so sort that first. Then get it MOT'd, then taxed.

You could always sell the car to yourself on Ebay, just do a BIN (get a mate to do it for you), then buy straight away and get a free 7 day cover note from Norwich Union Play stupid about the engine conversion essentially!

Play daft as I said

Just get your insurance sorted and the MOT.

Then, if you wanna be honest, declare that you're in the higher tax band when you go to the PO.

If you use a V10 form for the tax, you have to put the engine size down yourself, so you'll pay the relevant tax band.
