Of the Z18XE AFM, need to see which way it's been installed as I think the monkeys at Vauxhall have put the one on our Meriva the wrong way round. It has arrows on it, that I think should be pointing in direction of airflow, but on ours they're pointing towards the air filter

Keep having sensor faults popping up and I'm wondering it this is something to do with it, had a look in Painz's garage and I think from where the wires go into the sensor that I'm in the right and Vaux's excuse of "there's no room to put it the other way round so it must be right" is total BS.

Do they not have an arrow on them? Try putting it on so you can read the writing on it looking at it from the front?

I don't wanna touch it as we're having a pitched battle with Vaux, they've fucked something up every time they've had it to service it, last time was just before it came off warranty so we're blaming them and getting repairs for free so don't wanna jeopardise that by touching it myself.

Trying to think of things to quiz them over that could be wrong, been in 5 or 6 times now.

Other winning performance from them was servicing it, doing an oil change, and not putting any oil in after they'd drained it. We didnt realise til we'd done a 90 mile trip in it and the oil light came on, bunch of tossers.

Yes the arrow should point from the airbox to the direction of the throttle body. I dont know what it'd be like the wrong way round but it cant be working right. Bunch of muppets.

The way an AFM works would mean that it would fuck everything up if it was the wrong way round.

It has a heater element and a temp sensor. The temp sensor measures how quickly the air cools in the distance between the heater and sensor thus allowing the ECU to work out the air density...

Well it's just common sense isn't it mate. Like I said, been in 5 or 6 times with a sensor fault, in addition to a nasty misfire and huge flatspot that's almost a stall when you set off.

Apparently had new ICV and entire throttle body assembly ( a "modified" one according to Vaux ) and a whole host of other sensors.

Painz is definitely on the opposite way from that and his won't be wrong.
Tell them they are a bunch of fucktards and ask how somebody that works on vauxhalls all day every day can get something like that wrong.

When the guy opens the bonnet and stands there asking my dad whether it's a 1.6 or a 1.8 it doesn't inspire confidence. There's not even any visual similarity between a 1.6 8v and 1.8 16v

Can't wait

Also, can someone tell me on a 40k service if there's any need to disconnect an oil level warning light wire? As this is what Vaux were alleging happened when we had the service with no oil - the wire for the sensor must have come loose and told us there was no oil when there was...

Doesn't explain how we lost over a litre of GTX into the engine though

Ok, who fancies a CS meet at my local Vaux dealer tomorrow lunchtime? We can go in en masse and tell them what we all think
