England are good as individual players and when they come together they should be able to beat and compete with the best in the world..

Taking 90% of your players and there and they are world class players..

I think alot of the blame lies with the players BUT alot lies with Sven as his tactics are shoot...

In my view and this is not being anti english this as a neutral, England never really got up to full speed and never impressed me in any of there games, they should though looking at the team sheet..

I think England were lucky to get as far as they did without really playing to their potential which the have...

Under Mclaren I don't think really much will change as he's been with Sven too long, should have appointed somebody thats not worked in the England set-up before..

Don't go having a dig at me for being scottish or that, i could be anybody saying this...

Alot goes down to the manager but the players have to take most of the responsability.

The players may be world class, but the team isn't at all.

Average players who work as a team ARE better than amazing players who don't.

Edit - My grammar is shocking

Mav you are spot on m8, Sven subsitutions and tactics tonight were shocking, infact during the whole tournament they have been far from impressive.
Also you are right to say that we were lucky to get as far as we did, not lucky in how we won etc but more lucky in the opponents we played - up until tonight we never played anyone that good and we certainlly never impressed anyone in our group matches and first elimination match, I thought we were impressive tonight given the circumstances (10 men, injuries and god awful tactics and decisons by Sven) but it's not enough to win a World Cup by doing "just enough", you need good strong solid performances in every game - not just when they matter, and in that respect we didn't deserve to win the WC
Personally I thought we were the better team across the 90 minutes and 30 minutes extra time, we had the better chances and maybe with 11 men we would still be in it, but how many times must we go out on penaltys before we sort out how to take them? With credit to Ricardo he was awesome between the sticks but ffs out penalty taking was again below par and once again it has cost us.
