OK I'll start again.

WHen the video was done, it was probably on three....its not actually on the road yet so it was just started to check an issue with the PAS.

I fired her up again yesterday and pulled off three leads, no change in sound, and only one branch of the manifold was hot.

Took the plugs out and found they are flooded.

Its not actually being run on 1 pot, and i only blipped it up cos in the past it had popped through to 4..if ya see what i mean?

Cor blimey guv'na - Chill guys

that sounds like a fuelling issue, rather than a sparking issue. flooding the cylinders...

your air mass meter is shagged.

mine ran like that untill i got a new one.

plugs and leads did naff all.

Did you leave the engine outside in the rain for a while before you fitted it?

Yeah thats right, the leads were all arc'ing fine. But the plugs all have carbon deposits on them. I think it it was to do with the crank sensor (maybe not that sensor, but its on the front of the engine) being faulty which caused the engine to flood everytime i started it up.

Once it has a new set of plugs i think it will just need a good run to burn off the fuel...that and for the ECU to get the mixture right...i have to steal the battery from my Vectra every time i start it up so it has to reset itself i guess??

Yes my plugs were fouled because the airmass meter was causing it to overfuel.

You can put new plugs in but you have to find the reason why it was overfueling in the first place.

The ecu doesnt just over fuel does it, it does so for a reason.

Could be coolant temp sensor faulty making it run rich.

Could be amm faulty making it run rich.

You can tell if its crank sensor by how long it takes to start, if it cranks for ages then splutters into life then its prob crank sensor.

Listening to it tho missing when you rev it it sounds like amm.

read the ecu codes to find out whats up with it then that takes out the guess work.

Cheers for your input chap,

Coolant Temp Sensor - THats the one - we found it had a severed wire on it, it wouldnt start, just turn over. I think its just still flooded from that...would that make sense?

OK got through MOT today, actually runnng on 4 now.

Still overfueling, and stuttering to accelerate, it was OK for the journey to hte garage but lumpy coming back.

Have replaced the coolant temp sensor and afm. No lambda sensor to replace.

What next?

Oh and ECU light is off!
