I have a bit of a dilemma here, I went to view a car today and noticed that the doors and bodykit aer a different shade of red compared to the rest of the car.

The reason for this is that the guy delocked the doors and had the bodykit painted because of stone chips apart from that the car is immaculate.

What I need to know is is it possible to have the car compound polished a few times to brighten up the original paint as I dont wanna have to paint the whole car???

the parts that were painted were done in the original red but the rest have faded over time.

Will be the colour match on the paint. Compound polishing can't really change that. If the door handles were being removed and smoothed over then pretty much the whole side of the car should hae been painted, especially if a bodykit was fitted too.

He said the colour used was the same thats on the car as he used the colour code on the inner wing its the otiginal paint that seems to have faded.

I suppose red is bad for this???

There's not much you can do really. How bad is it? But fade is a problem, even if he has used the right colour paint the match can't be 100% garunteed.

Its noticable, the bits that aint been painted are duller, I thought a good compound polish would brighten up the old paintwork

Oh, if it's duller then polishing it might bring the whole thing out again and make it less noticable. It's worth a try, though you have to buy the car to fin dout

I'm gonna take a good polish with me and try it on a bit of the original paint and see what happens.

The guy said i'm welcome to do this.

would it put you off buying a car though as thats all thats wrong with it.

I've offered him £2.5k btw

Peugeot did the GTI in straight red and a metalic red, looks non metalic to me which is good because straight red will buff up mettalic wont as the colour is under the laquer so polishing wont bring out the colour on a metalic just the shine

My bro in law sells these and info came from him.
