Just acquired my Astra Engine to put into my SRi on sunday and it's clean as a whistle
Although I've managed to grab the engine loom, ECU and radiator (along with other bits), I'm at a loss as to what the engine code is(?). Having looked through my Owners Manual, I have come to the conclusion that it's a C16XE. Is there a way to confirm this?
It's 1.6 8v from a '93 Astra 1.6i Expression (I think) but I can't find anything on the 'net to reaffirm my identification of the engine. Can anyone help?
Also, I'm kicking myself that I didn't grab the fuel pump from the Astra, will my current pump suffice or not? Thanks in advance.

c16xe is the earlier 16valve engine mate so it wont be that. it will be a c16 but unsure of the lastr two digits. have a search on mig web type in engine codes i'm positive there was a thread on there a while back explaining the codes etc... hope that helps mate.

Hmmm....according to this site the XE is down to compression ratio and mixture system (X being = EC 91/441/EEC (stage 2) and E being MPI.
EDIT: SE sounds very feasible
