Have just discovered a bit of a problem with my 1999 'T' plate, 1.6 sport. When you start the car up, even if its been left overnight, the cooling fan cuts in straight away . It then cuts out after a short period of time. This afternoon I had to leave car ticking over for about 10 minutes, and the temp-gauge was way up and the fan hadn't cut in. As I have just discovered this haven't had time to investigate yet, was just curious if anyone has had any similar experiences, and what it turned out to be? Cheers, Aboo....

As Dave said the fan can cut in as high as 98 degrees and this is still considered normal.
My old Sport had air con and the fan cut in quite high and was so quiet I never knew it was on sometimes.

check the temp sensor it's in the left side of radiator exaxtly you can see it under power steering pump
if the temp sensor not cut when 98 deg then replace it with anouter one
note: i live in iraq and i adjust my temp sensor on 60 deg because it 2 hot there
