Theres only a certain amount of time the green slip is valid for after purchasing the vehicle. Its less than 2 months but not quite sure on the exact time.

you can tax it using a v62 at your local DVLA. If the car has been notified as sold to a trader. If not you need to apply for a new log book using a v62 - this can take up to 6 weeks to get though. the green slip is valid for 3 months. You can ring the DVLA for a duplicate by saying you never received the original - thats assuming its in your name on their system. If not its the v62 you need. you need to say you never received it or they charge you for duplicates now.

You should be able to, but it can take 6 weeks for you to get the new log book before you can tax it.

well yeah, the thing is though, i dont have the log book, so the car is still registered to the previous owner, its got no tax or mot, but its parked off the road

and the lad i bought it off hasnt got my address so any fine would go to him

erm... it would be nice to actually have the V5 for it though, so i'll get that all sorted as soon as i can
