Hi,
Can i wire a remote on cable up to the ignition so when key in and turned the car starts as well as say turning the amps on...? instead of using remote on on the back of the head unit, as im not going to have a head unit but need a amp to remotely turn on...
Is it possible to wire a switch in so when key in and turned you can flip a switch that will turn the amps on, basically just wiring a switch up in the middle of the remote on cable...?
Also, if anyone has a pic of what id need to wire the remote cable to please show me, or take a pic and point out which cable is needed.
Cheers

why? Why not just on the ignition and have a switch?
Could i wire it to the 12v of the old radio as there will still be the radio plug but just be used, as that sends a signal when ignition turned on aint it...?

Just use a feed from anything that gets power when the ignition comes on.
Is the cig lighter not ignition live?

There are loads of systems that are ignition live, the most obvious ones are listed here, doesnt need to be a big wire its only a tiny signal.
If you really have to, run a wire from the battery with a switch in it although theres no need when the ciggy lighter is good enough

well il be running power and earth to the pc, but i dont want it to come on when ignition comes on, so i was gonna wire a switch to the remote cable... or is this pointless?

Pointless if you want the pc to come on when you want, put a switch in the permanent live to the pc, then run a remote from the pc to the amp.
If you want the amp to come on when the pc does then take a single wire from the battery, put a switch in it. Then use a distribution block to have 2 outputs which are controlled by one switch, one to the pc the other to your amp.
If you want the amp to turn on only when you want, your best bet is to run a wire from the battery to the amps remote terminal with a switch in it. (this is along with your amps +12V feed so you'll have 2 12v feeds one switched to the remote terminal and one permanent to the amps 12v power.

my plan is this... as it works easier.
Have a remote from ignition from ignition to amps and pc.
then i got my 0 gauge for my amps, and i will just run another power lead off the battery 4 gauge or somert to the pc as i have a distrobution block for my amps, will basically look like this.
Will it work?

Im trying to do something like this, only the remote wire from the ignition has shorted with something and its basically destroyed.
Where does the remote wire (which feeds into the back of the headunit) plug into the remote? I've been looking all afternoon and its done my head in
EDIT I read up the thread a bit the remote wire is meant to be blue? mine is red?
