i find that if i put my foot down hard in 1st gear, sometime 2nd my car seems to jolt a bit and not accelerate smoothly at first.
anyone else had this problem?

Yeah i get that too, i think its just the gear its in and the fact that its pretty raw power.

it is a flat spot. not 100% sure how its caused. think it is just due to wear on the engine. service it might help

yeah, like when you're in first and then accellerate and step off over and over again, the car jumps around, the power of the engine is more noticable.... kinda thing
its really hard to explain

you wouldnt, its just an example.
Right, when you're sitting at about 10mph in 1st, then you stamp down on the accellerator, you can feel it.. alot, but when you do the same in like 3rd, you cant feel it at all.

When you do it mate have a look at ur revs....When you do it is ur revs near or past 3krpm?As thats when the power comes alive on any 16v...I have noticed what your sayin on mine and i found out that if ur not in the right rev range for the gear it will judder till u get it right....

do you have an induction kit?
When was the last time you cleaner the air filter (induction kit or not)?
When did it last have new plugs?
Is the throttle butterfly clean, or covered in oily residue?
Haver you tried the age old trick of diconnecting the battery for 10mins whilst doign a dump@

ive had this problem when i had a 1.2 in my car. it was the throttle control sensor or idle valve or somethin. get it plugged in to a diagnosed is the best bet

or try stuff that doesnt cost you.... thats your best first bet.
Ash - a cuppa tea is equally acceptable, but not both.
