Been working on a site template for a few days in Photoshop. Just wanted peoples opinions on what i have done so far. Its not 100% finished and the top banner i'm going to work on and get looking really tidy with some shadows etc.
What i have done so far i think is ok but can be improved. i just wanted peoples views on the template layout / colours / theme etc. There are plenty more stages before these, but these have the last few minor changes.
Stage 1:
Stage 2:
Stage 3:
Hopefully once i have the template done and the header looking the way i want it too. I'm going to animate it in flash with the Sun rising up and then it shining and the "Brighter Working" appearing.
Anyway just want some else's with on it because i've been looking at it for far to long and its good to have someone else look over it.
Please do not rip off my work. Thanks,
Simsy

writign coudl maybe do with being a tad bigger as its kind of hard on the eyes when reading. also do the hills etc in illustrator, you get much smoother lines

Ahh yeah the text i quickly dropped in, in my template. It is small and would be easier size to read when put into html / aspx.
I've not used illustrator but i imagine its easy/similar to photoshop to pickup? Someone said to me once that illustrator is alot better for text rendering too. dunno how true that is.
The hills were quickly done with paths but they are a pain to draw and then brush/stroke to look smooth.
Anything else ants that you can suggest?

That is most likely only for the pictures of the template

Like it.
Clearly your client is a retard if they want stage 1 as stage 3 looks much nicer but its up to them at the end of the day.
You writing this in .Net then Sims?
I will reply to your u2u soon.

hehe thanks James.
Yeah i'm putting it into a .NET master page and Theme today and going to be theming the Server Controls for the client too.
My client is really obsessed with make the site stretchy/scaleable so when say some changes the size of their browser window i.e width, the images adjust to it (sliding doors i think the term is).

You'll have to use vector graphics to do that properly will you not?

What i'll do is have one table cell or div at for the banner. Background image will be left hand side of the banner and aligned left. Then Right hand side will be normal image and will be aligned right. The right hand hills will overlap the left.
Only is issue maybe is it wil overlap the sun and text at one point. So may stick that in a div with z-index: 1;
Hopefully it will all work nicely. But wish i could work with a set pixel width

.Net 2.0 Good to see you're up with the times.
I've mainly used 1.1

Yeah James been working with .NET 2.0 for about 3 months now. We are looking to start using Ajax with .NET soon. Should be a useful tool
