When i start it up, it ticks over for like a split second then cuts out, then it re-starts fine and runs ok, but a little lumpy.
also when im idle-ing along in 4th-5th gear at about 1800-2000 rpm and stick my foot down it misfires once or twice then takes off
Whats going on and are these two things linked???
the engines only done 7k so its not even due a belt change.
Thanks,
Shane

Sounds like it could be plugs or HT leads, or maybe even the coil. Check them, or have them checked

here i am, could be several things, get it on a diagnostic machine and see what sensor is playing up.
could be idle control, but not sure as it has a bit of misfire
could be plugs and leads, but they tend to break down under load
could be maf sensor
could be EGR.

cheers dude, think ill get vaux or vauxcare to plug it in. funny you should say ICV because when i blip the throttle it hangs at 1500 rpm before dropping down after about 2-3 seconds, but only sometimes. ive got a spare MAF, ill try that, ive got a spare Lambda, reckon thats worth a try?

this is the problem with these engines, there over 100 possible causes, none more likely than the other. probably electrical though

lambda makes it run shit alround the rev range, may be worth changing it tho, they tend to get slow as they age.
no point guessing, could be a split vacume.

or burnt valve

or faulty wiring

incorrectly gapped plugs, dirty ignition leads, dodgy dispack, sticky icv, vaccum system fault, blocked egr, coolant temp sensor, crank sensor, cam sensor.......
that enough
