right got back to my pc today after my sister had been using it. turned it on before it gets to the welcome screen, it just freezes on the black screen.
so put xp cd in installed it on the same partition, all works now as if i had deleted everything and started again. but i havnt as i have 191gb used,
does anybody know how i can access the files????
any help will be appretiated..

Do you not get a boot menu after BIOS asking which OS to boot to?
eg.
Windows XP Home Edition
Windows XP Home Edition
?? If so chose a different one
Note for future: should have ran a repair not a fresh install

it says 2 windows xps i could choose on start up but 1 works that has nothing on it the other has a blue screen with loads of writting...
somehow yesterday i repaired it like u say my sister went on it since so tried repairing it again but i thought i was doing it the same way.. obviously not!
