Right I need a modem that is standalone to go between my phone line and the router. I am in a student house and all the rooms are wired with ethernet cables and these cables all terminate into what I assume is a router that is in the kitchen near to the phoneline. Now I assume that all I need is a modem to go inbetween the router and the phone line. We are going with Tiscali 8meg if that makes any difference
All the modems I have seen seem to be USB?! but there wont be a computer there so I am puzzled
Thanks in advnce

You need an RJ45 modem mate. Would be easier to just replace the router, if it's a basic one. Standard ADSL Modem/Router will set you back around £45, roughly the same as a decent RJ45 modem.
Just occured to me... are you sure the router you have doesn't have a built-in modem already?

Will I be able to plug all the ethernet cables into a new router?
Will start to have a look around now for the sort of modem I need.
Thanks for the help buddy

Looking around on e-buyer all I can find are wireless ones?
Can you point me in the right direction? Or give me some links to the modems?
