right the small blocks are either x18xe1 and z18xe or its the x18xe and z18xe1 (thought it was the first 2 that were small block) mantzel themselfs in germany do this conversion too!!! you have to use the 1.8 pistons and the original rods (c16xe rods) and the 1.8 crank, if i remember correctly from what i have been reading then this shoudl work fine... i am still going to get in touch with mantzel to find out exactly what they do when converting a c16xe to 1800..... (lots of german translating soon then)

right to confirm things, x18xe1 and z18xe is small block, as far as i am aware at this moment in time you need the crank and pistons out of one of these engines to convert a c16xe/x16xe to a 1.8... i will be contacting mantzel (germany) to confirm what is needed..

its the stroke which is the problem.
an extra 6.7mm is going to cause problems.

its either the gudgeon pin in the piston sits higher or the 1600 rods are shorter to compensate and thus the pistons sit at the same height. need to go down to the breakers and measure the block height in comparison to a spare 16xe block i got here...
