OK so now my x16xe is pretty much fooked i figured that i would get a new 2.0 instead of replacing the 1.6, since I am new to 2.0 conversions I would like to know if there is anything I should look out for or know about before I go ahead. I will not be doing it myself but I know of a vauxhall specialist that does do them, and they rally their own so I expect they will know what they are doing and do a good job. I have a 1999 1.6 16v corsa sport w/air-con and what I want to know is:
Will I lose anything? (air-con, etc)
Is there anything I should get done with the job that they may not do, while keeping the costs down as much as possible? (uprated brakes, driveshafts, etc)
Will I be given choices, and what should I go for? (different choices of engines, gearboxes, etc)
I will be getting a loan out to have this done, and while theoretically I have no limit on costs, I would like to keep costs as low as possible, preferably less than £2k

if you are new to this conversion go for the m-tech conversion kit form lmfvauxhall, yes its nye on £500 but it makes your life a hell of a lot easier.
also have a nosie in the tutorials and FAQ section for lots of help on 2l conversions, the search button works too i think.

ah sounds good, a quick question... the problem i have at the mo with my 1.6 may not be as serious as I thought, it is idling at 3,000rpm once it has warmed up... however if i disconnect the pipe going to the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor the revs drop down again (occasionally going to 2,000rpm but dropping straight back down to 0) I have had the car to a vauxhall specialist who said the obd said it was the ICV (idle control valve) which they said they tried and wasn't they problem and said that they would have to remove the head and check the valves etc. do you think it is worth trying a new MAP sensor?

also I have noticed that if you block the MAP sensor pipe the cooland has bubbles coming down the right hand upper pipe, like it is reversing or slowing the flow.... is this normal?

no, but a friend said that when i drove off it stunk of fuel, but I just think it was burning rich on choke, since the car had just started, and he doesn't know a great deal about cars anyway. sorry about all the questions, but also what is the "going price" for a 2.0 conversion?
