Alrite guys, so... I've been thinking thru mods I'd like to apply to my car.

It then dawned on me that I left an induction kit on a car I just scrapped!

anywho, Im running a 1.4 16v Corsa B, whats the best induction kit to get for it and whats the best price I could be looking @?

cheers - Dan

Ideally, you need a sealed unit.

Like a Viper or BMC. Another option is to modify your existing airbox and then fit a free flowing panel filter.

Where can you get the free flowing panel filters from and how much are they? I'm thinking of doing my airbox (derestricting/drilling)....

no point might aswell use ind kit. save time, you wont see any gains with either setup but the ind kit will sound much much better

Well topshot, you know this has been debated lately and rather than spend £60-70 I'd prefer to drill my box tbh.....there's mixed feelings about this whole drilled airbox vs induction kit thing

Also, loose power due to the hot air that is in the engine bay.

Yeah, If an induction kit is drawing hot air , then surely drilling is a better choice?

I've Quoted Tek, because I'd also like to know where I can get a free flowing panel filter from!

The only reason I'm drilling and derestricting is due to the debate in a recent thread....I see no point spending £60-70 only to find that I've wasted my money.

drilling and derestricting provides the same benifits doesnt it?

and because of the drilling you get a cool sound anyway?

the best option in my opinion. spending £200 on a viper type of thing is the stupidest thing I can think of. £200 for maybe 3 bhp???

my GTi-6 has not lost any power since fitting K&N?

as for hot air, thats what the heat shield and air feeds are for

best result if you have the time is fit K&N cone into the air box, dont drill it for gods sake just rig a big air feed to it

if the heat shield is full of holes how can it stop heat soak

plus it gets very hot also, stainless steel heat shield with 2 air feeds is the answer i tell you

from all these responses, it seems like you would be better off just leaving the original airbox alone, therefore = no problems!

Simple, don't drill the holes on the engine side Cost = next to nothing.

£200 that could go towards throttle bodies or any other performance related modification rather than cosmetic or audible enhancements Once I get the bodywork sorted I'll start under the bonnet and induction kits will not be on my agenda.....
