Chipped broadband modems what are they like and how do they work?
Anyone know where you get them aswell?

I don't know how you could get a chipped modem.
The only thing i've heard of like that was uncapping ntl modems back in the day.

not sure about chipped ADSL as the speed is set at the head end, but with cable modems its possible as the speed is set in the modem itself (downloads a config file when you switch it on etc) - but it wouldn't be worth the risk, as you'll be found out within a day or so (if that) and banned from the network all together (account closed etc).
Back in the day it was pretty funny, people being able to download at 100mb etc

I used to laugh when I made the call to customers who had uncapped there modem...
Most of them tried to act soft...
