last week i went through i reaaly big puddle which ripped my side skirts off i went back to the puddle when i realised they had ripped off to put them back in the car then i diddn't think much of it and the corsa carried on driving, 5minutes later it cuts out and it wouldn't start so had it towed home.
next morning goes to start it and it started for like 20seconds but ideled at somthing daft like 500 revs before cutting out again and it wouldn't fire back up so i left it and went to work.
later that day i foned my mate up asking what it could be and he said that because the water had ripped my side skirts off it would have had enough force to wet everything in the engine bay so just spray everything electrical with wd40 and leave it a while, i did that and it started (took a while though) but it didn't sound very healthy and when i went to rev it it would try an cut out, anyway i just left it to tick over hoping it would clear itself up but no luck now it won't start it just turns over.
anybody know whats up with it or how i can fix it?
engine is a 20xe out of a astra gte.

cheers Joe

sounds like AFM to me....Any ECU light at all? And were you running an induction kit or sealed unit at all? (seems to happen more with them). Almost positive its the AFM though

sorted now, at 1st i thought it was the AFM but thats new and thought the induction kit had sucked a load of water up, had a compressor and blew pretty much everything in the engine bay and changed the plugs and a HT lead going to the coil and it fired straight up , thanks for ur help mike
