Right, having got all my goodies together for my XE conversion, i was lucky enough to get a second hand SBD manifold, but since then, been told with a low car (80mm all round), it will bottom out on the manifold all the time.
Does anyone else with a similar setup have this problem??
I dont want to give up my manifold
Any pics of how close a std manifold is to the ground would be good, angles from the floor, at the front of the car, looking towards the rear would be good.
Spanks!

uh, interesting because the exhaust 'wraps' round the sump on the 20XE, so in theory if you are going to smash the exhaust it will also hit the sump?

some manifolds willay are a lot bigger bore of pipe therefore hang lower down, which isnt a problem in the astras and cavs of this world as the engine actually sits higher up. thing about it, the sump sits slightly lower down and i mean slightly, than the front skirt of the bumper. if the exhaust hangs lower then it will catch yeah?

bah humbug, people post stuff like this all the time in here!
Uh, interesting, as, uh, the type C uses a bigger diameter, so wont be the same as the std manifold, hence hitting the deck, innit?
Cheers Muppet, so you think it will cause issues with exhaust/floor scrapage?

If it's a 4-1 then it is a lot bigger than the normal one, 4 times in fact.

the problem with them is that the runners dont all joint together till after the sump so u have 4 pipe going under your sump.
also its is a bit crap to fit too

Tom, how do you mean, its a bit crap?
so the runners go under the sump? jesus, i aint even took it out of the packaging yet, lol, i think i wont bother & just sell it on!
Is it worthwhile, or not? give much gain?
Also, did you drive the car with a std item on, before fitting this? does it effect the exhaust note much?
cheers bud.

jst at how low it is off the sum
it hangs down about 1 and a half in past the sump.
as for the performance different i couldnt tell you as i fitted TB's at the same time as the manifold so it was always going to be quicker but i would deff say it would make a difference just due to the size of the think lol. its massive compaired to the standard item
as for the exhuast note mine has a real rasp at lower revs which is a little annoying but thatys all i can hear over the TB's lol

i have mine lowerd 60mm on 16inch wheels. when i had the standard xe manifold i still had the anti roll bar on and ocationally scraped the bar on speed bumps if i went over them abit 2 fast. then got ashley racing manifold with slighly bigger bore. had to take off my anti roll bar. and it was fine until i went to south east r/r day got lost and was hackin though country lanes scraped it then a few times and 2weeks after that a slight blow in the exhaust turned into the manifold splitting inhalf!!!!
must have made a small crack going through those country lanes and that turned into a massive hole as i drove the car more. took it off and got it wielded up tho
