Speaking from experience?

well i brought my ibiza thinking i was being mature getting the car, newer, all the gadgets, no loud exhausts, powerful but mature, comfortable and i just got bored of it, ok it was quick but i wanted something less comfortable, more individual and at the end of the day didn't make me feel old and tbh more 'boy racer'!!!! thats why i was looking at corsa's and ended up with a gti.

Depends.

Will be just as quick as each other. Speak to Adam_B as his mate has a 172 and Adam has a 2.0 corsa that he regulary uses on track. They both went to the ring.

I think Adam said his corsa matches the clio at slow speed cornering, but the clio responds better at high speed cornering.

Also, your brakes will be MUCH better than the clios.

For me, the clio interior and denty plastic wings make it a no no, but its still a damn quick pocket rocket and should be considered.

Maybe find the limits of the corsa first on a few track days, and if its not for you, look for a clio. TBH, with the new model coming out, they will dramatically drop in price just like all cars when the new model arrives.

The older the Clio get the more unreliable it'll get... with the added disadvantage of the expensive costs the clio will start to look unattractive... as you've already stated the clio has had a new gearbox. My old one had 4

Eh, even though the corsa was designed a good 5+ years before the clio?

Some good comments coming through, thanks guys

Steve- The clio has got an exhaust system and is louder than my car. Is also lowered so im not counting on it being comfortable or more grown up really But i do see what you mean about your cars.

Jr- Tell him its a deal

Daimo- I know what you mean about plastic body parts, still less rust to come through! I personally prefer the seats in the clio to the corsa.

Got an insurance quote for it and its £20 a year more expensive to insure. Going to have a look at it now to see what i think of it.

Just got back from a little test drive and looking round it. Breif spec of it is:
79,000 miles
new gearbox with 40k on it
brand new clutch
ported and polished head
new cambelt, tensioners, head bolts
lowered 40mm on apex springs
ashley competition exhaust and de-cat
pipercross viper

Tbh i couldn't really tell any power difference, i wasn't absolutely booting it though. And the gear stick felt really far away from me had to keep leaning forward to change gear.

Also as Jr said when i bought Fads car, after driving a car a with a quickshift then driving one without, it feels really wierd!

Would be good to have a little speed test together with the two cars to really see the performance diffrence. But i think i've made my mind up and im gonna keep mine.

due to VVT all the powers at the top end of the clio 5k+ redlines at about 7300, you need to red line it to be in the power band for the next gear so you do have to thrash them.

i love mine but unless your into clio's id keep the corsa

I'd say kep the Corsa as the main reason I didnt buy a 182 clio was down to the fact they dont age well at all. If you go on cliosport you will read so many horror stories and when dealers take them in they tear you a new asshole. At least the Corsa is cheaper to fix.

However if it was a low mile phase 2 172 then I would consider it for sure.
